According to new data from the Audio Publishers Association (APA), audiobook listeners are affluent, well-educated book lovers who utilize the audio format to fit more books into their lives.

The median age of audiobook listeners is 48, slightly younger than non-listeners, whose median age is 51. Audiobooks are also drawing young adults in large numbers with almost one quarter (23%) of all audiobook listeners between 18 and 24 years of age.
